about

the particular war that prompted this was the vicious western bombing of iraq - natural revenge, apparently for the attack on the twin twin towers. I don't know how many people on the planet were actually in favour of the attack on and invasion of iraq, operation shock and awe - not many, I shouldn't think. biggest protests in this planet's history, all over the globe, people coming out to say 'don't do this in our name'. they did it anyway. a giant leap in the mass hypnosis, and (for the time being) psychological defeat as demonstrators reflected on the apparent powerlessness of even truly massive demonstrations ...

over time of singing this song I've swopped round some of the oh yeahs for oh no's, as a little bit more irony seemed in order. to reflect a certain weariness with warmongering.

when I sing 'baby we can bring you to your knees' i wonder about it. there are millions and billions of ordinary people, versus a handful of powerful neocons, new world order bods (bilderbergians) and shadowy figures at the top of massive supranational cartels. but we are so many - they are so few. surely at some point things will shift? they will. every empire falls. in the meantime all we can do in our own circles of influence is study peace.

lyrics

you think it’s going to work
another little war –
oh no, oh no.
you think you’re going to win
it’s what you are here for –
oh no, oh no.

the people rising up
the people spilling out –
oh yeah, oh yeah
the people finding out
just what it’s all about
oh yeah, oh yeah

CH : so tell me, what part of this is that is working?
What part of this is it we should save?
40 years and more i have been planning my escape
lied to from the cradle to the grave

you think you’ve got it all
you think you’ve got it made
oh no, oh no
we see the towers fall
and everyone must pay
oh no, oh no

CH : you believe in evil when the mirror shows its face
like you believe in bombing for the peace
you may believe that bilderberg will hold you in your place
but baby we can bring you to your knees

we’re swallowing the pills
we wallow in the porn
oh yeah, oh yeah
but it’s in days like these
that better things are born
oh yeah, oh yeah

CH : what part of this is it that is working?
What part of this is it we should save?
40 years and more i have been planning my escape
lied to from the cradle to the grave
shafted from the cradle to the grave
dancing from the cradle to the grave
dreaming from the cradle to -
